Earth Hour 2020 with the Commander Islands Reserve

On March 28, from 20:30 to 21:30 Kamchatka time, we will join the international campaign of the World Wildlife Fund  (WWF) and, as a sign of respect for the Earth’s resources, we will put out the light in the visitor center of the nature reserve on Bering Island.

This year, the most massive environmental event is held online for the first time. In this regard, WWF Russia has prepared a series of virtual activities for its participants.

Anyone can take a special test and learn their "eco-destination" on the  websites  of WWF Russia on social media to watch unique films about nature, try their hand at the quiz and get a virtual gift or to hold an environmental challenge together with famous bloggers.

You can support the Earth Hour at 20:30 by turning off the lights at home for 60 minutes. Do not forget to share how you participated in the promotion using the tags #EveryoneCan and #EathHour in social networks.

The event takes place in Russia for the twelfth time. The theme of the Russian Earth Hour 2020 is environmental activism. Every day thousands of people across the country contribute to the protection of nature. They solve problems of various scapes: some collect batteries in their own house to dispose of them in the right way, some find and stop illegal logging, and others organize eco-lessons and charity events at their school, university or just among friends. All these people are united by a sense of responsibility for the well-being of our nature and a desire to preserve it.

As part of the WWF campaign, Russia also organized  collecting   of donations for arranging an eco-path near the Severo-Zapadnoye rookery in the Commander Islands Nature Reserve.
