The Commander Islands Nature Reserve Photo Show in Pulkovo Extended

Arctic foxes, tufted puffins, whales, fur seals, reindeers and other inhabitants of the nature reserve pictured on the background of beautiful landscapes, are available in Pulkovo Saint Petersburg airport until the end of August.

Exposition called Meet the Commander Islands is about the largest marine nature reserve in Russia and its inhabitants. It was opened in domestic flights departure area of Pulkovo airport in the beginning of June.

The exposition has 46 individual photos of the pristine nature of Bering Island, Medny, Toporkov and Ary Kamen Islands. The Commander Islands Nature Reserve team presented their pictures of unique tundra views and seascapes.

There you will see orca, sperm and humpback whales, rookeries of the northern fur seal, flocks of pacific salmon, exotic seabirds and other animals of the islands in their habitats.

Press Service of Pulkovo airport shared that about 1460 people visit this area in an hour. Therefore, more than a million domestic passengers had a chance to see the exposition.

The Commander Islands are a relatively small archipelago on the border between Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean, 180 km to the East from Kamchatka peninsula. The four major islands – Bering, Medny, Toporkov and Ary Kamen Islands – as well as more than 3 million hectares of marine water area are included in the Commander Islands Nature and Biosphere Reserve.
